Detecting Concealed Evidence by Dana Mentink

Image
The mystery of who is after Pilar captivates the reader.  Thankfully she has Chase and his family to support her throughout the challenges.   I listened to this as an audiobook and I wanted to speak to this as well. She did a great job being clear and articulate.   Thanks to netgalley and the publisher for the arc.  The opinions are my own.

Buried Wilderness Secrets by Jaime Jo Wright

A love inspired suspense novel that includes bones found in the wilderness, adoption and family dysfunction?  This book had all of the tropes to make it a page turner! Aaliyah is a ranger who discovered the bones in the wilderness and from there everything goes downhill from there.  The one bright spot is Detective Wade who helps her investigate the murders.  The suspense and mystery were just the right mix with a little romance thrown in.   Thanks to netgalley and the publisher for the arc.  The opinions are my own.

Danger in the Wilderness by Darlene L. Turner

The Love Inspired Suspense novels continue to captivate me with their suspense.  I love that they are fast moving and easy to read quickly.   Dekker and Blaire come together to find the PCK killer and what a ride it is.  I had a difficult time figuring out who the killer was.  I had my suspicions but was way off.   My favorite character was Dekker's mom.  Her unwavering faith and strength throughout the novel was incredible. Thanks to netgalley and the publisher for the arc.  The opinions are my own.

The Soup Kitchen by A.K. Hill

I really enjoyed being in M & M soup kitchen. It was interesting to think about all of the different prejudices that come into play regarding people who are in poverty. There were so many different stories that were portrayed throughout the book which enhanced the book so much and gave me a greater perspective. My favorite character was Nick, who was the director of the soup kitchen. Throughout the book he maintained a calm and steady presence. He gave his employees a chance to work through their problems. Nick also spent time each day interacting with the clients of the kitchen. This was marketed as a Christian book and there was some swearing in the book, which was disappointing. Thanks to netgalley and the publisher for the arc. The opinions are my own.

Final Approach by Lynette Eason

Prepare for a wild ride as Andrew and Kristine seek to solve who is behind the hijacking!   I've read the previous books in the series but it's been so long that I don't remember the back stories of the other characters.   I had an inkling of who was involved about halfway through but wow was I surprised by the depth of the betrayal. Kristine was my favorite character.  She was so brave and had such compassion for those around her.   Thanks to netgalley and the publisher for the arc.  The opinions are my own.

The Pretender by Wanda Brunstetter

This was my favorite book in the series!   I love that Rosa is now home and we know what she went through.  The addition of Anthony to the story enriched the plotline so much.  He was such a likeable character.  I found Susan to be irritating after a while.  I continue to love that the author ends the story with a recipe from the story. Thanks to netgalley and Barbour Publishing for the arc.  The opinions as re my own.

The Bitter End Birding Society by Amanda Cox

I'm feeling rather bitter that this story had to end! The dual timeline story was a fantastic way to tell this story.  It gave a chance for the reader to understand the complexity of the story and the choices that were made.   My favorite characters were Marilyn and Piper.  I loved how Marilyn overcame so much in her life and still maintained her joy! Thanks so much to netgalley and the publisher for the arc.  The opinions are my own.

When the Road Comes Around by Katie Powner

The author knocks this one out of the park as she weaves a story of forgiveness and grace.   I wanted to be one of the people renting a cabin and seeing the amazing Montana scenery.   The characters resonated with me especially Anita and Sam.  I loved how Anita prayed for so many people in her life but also struggled with her own worries.  Sam was such a great character as he struggles for his own independence.   Thanks to the author and publisher for the arc.  The opinions are my own.
