The Heart of the Mountains by Pepper Basham

Cora escapes to the mountains to avoid a forced marriage but is met by people and animals who do not want her there.  Jeb is home from the war and is struggling with the aftermath of that.   I love how Cora is able to use her nursing skills and does not let the fear control her actions.  I probably would have been on the first transportation mode out of there.   The people who live in the mountains can seem so rough and hard to understand but I love how strong and resilient they are. Thanks so much to netgalley and the publisher for the arc.  The opinions are my own.

The View from Coral Cove by Amy Clipston

I really enjoy reading anything by this author whether it be contemporary fiction or Amish fiction.   This story takes us to the town of Coral Cove where Maya goes to take over running her great aunt Cece's toy store.  The fun begins when a little kitten comes in to the store followed by little Ashlyn and her father, Brody, the local vet.  This was such a fun story for me that I finished the book within 24 hours!  There was one part in the story where Maya was given something and the tears just flowed for me, which doesn't happen often from a book! I received a complimentary copy of this book. O pinions expressed in this review are completely my own.

Mulberry Hollow by Denise Hunter (Riverbend #2)

Image
I loved being back in Riverbend Gap and following the characters I came to care about that were in the first book.  This book follows Avery who is running the clinic and also concerned about her future medical concerns.  Wes comes in to town off of the Appalachian Trail and is such an honorable man as he tries to honor the memory of his friend. I am looking forward to the third book in this series!! I received a complimentary copy of this book. O pinions expressed in this review are completely my own.

A Flicker of Light by Katie Powner

5 stars Hot Coffee!!  This book was just what I needed!  I discovered this author last year when she published her first book , Sowing Season .  I had found the book on netgalley and thought it sounded very interesting and it was!  I eagerly follow the author on her facebook page and was delighted that I would be a part of the launch team for her new book, A Flicker of Light. The author draws you in to the community of Moose Creek with her phenomenal story telling.  I can almost picture myself in the town at the football game and cheering for the local high school team.  There were so many characters that I thoroughly enjoyed in this story including Bea, Mitch, June, Rand, Jeremy, Steve and Frank.   I always enjoy a book that has real relationships that can be rough at times to navigate yet show how they can rise above the circumstances through their faith and their love for the LORD.   I highly encourage you to check out this book...

Labyrinth of Lies by Irene Hannon

4 stars This book was a powerful book.  At times, I was a little confused about who the characters were and how they related to the story but in the end it all came together for me.  There is so much suspense in the story and a little bit of romance which is perfect for me.  Zeke and Cate go undercover separately in a private boarding school in order to uncover illegal activities that are happening at the school.  The amount of lies and twists and turns in the story kept me looking forward to the next page. Thanks so much to netgalley and the publisher for the arc.  The opinions are my own.

The Mistletoe Countess by Pepper Basham

5 stars This book is awesome and hits all the notes of a wonderful book--mystery, romance, suspense, etc.  Gracelynn is such a fun character.  She is innocent, sweet and full of knowledge of literary works!  Frederick is an earl and is trying to find his way in the world!  This is one that will get your heart racing for the mystery and the romance!!!!! Thanks so much to netgalley and the publisher for the arc.  The opinions are my own.

The Heart of Splendid Lake by Amy Clipston

5 stars I really enjoyed my trip to Splendid Lake!  There were so many things that resounded to me within this story--the loss of Brianna's father and the subject of foster care.   I enjoy reading stories of characters who care so much about their family even when it is hard.  Brianna's family is struggling with grief and financial struggles and yet she keeps fighting for her family.  Scott is the other main character and his life has been pretty difficult, growing up in the foster care system but he has found the strength to persevere. I really hope that the author takes the reader on another trip to Splendid Lake! Thanks so much to netgalley and the publisher for the arc.  The opinions are my own.

Under the Magnolias by T.I. Lowe

5 stars!! Usually I do not post reviews unless it is a book that I have read through netgalley but I can not be silent on this one! :) The authors ability to tell a story continues to amaze me. Her ability to weave the details in such a way puts a smile on my face. T.I. Lowe is able to put all of the pieces together in such a way that makes the story such an intricate tapestry. The story of the Foster family is one that everyone should read about and is not unique. Each family has something that they may want to keep hidden but as Christians it is so much better to share our story so that others come carry some of that burden. The lessons that I learned Under the Magnolias will stick with me for quite some time! This book is being published by Tyndale House and will release on May 4, 2021 and can be found on Amazon here:   Amazon.com: Under the Magnolias (9781496453617): Lowe, T.I.: Books

An Unexpected Amish Courtship by Rachel J. Good Surprised by Love #2

5 stars I really enjoy reading anything by this author!  The books are always a quick and enjoyable read. I enjoyed that I was back in the farmers market and seeing Mrs. V. back with her matchmaking and her love for others.  I enjoyed getting to know the pickle lady, her niece Sovilla and Isaac.    Thanks so much to netgalley and the publisher for the arc.  The opinions are my own.

The One You're With by Lauren K. Denton

5 stars What a great book this was!   I loved how the author wove the story together including in the past and in the present day.  I couldn't wait until the end when I could see how the "quilt" came together. I loved how the choices that we make in life were displayed in the book.  It made me fall in love with the characters and root for them. Thanks to netgalley and the publisher for the arc.  The opinions are my own.

Plot Twist by Bethany Turner

5 Stars I was so excited to read this story as I love anything by Bethany Turner! This book was written in such a new and unique way! The story centers on February 4th from 2003 to 2013. The story begins on 2-4-13 with Olivia at the coffee shop Mugs and Shots. She is employed as a greeting card writer but is working on her own screenplay. She meets an unnamed man and vows to meet back on this date in 10 years Each chapter starts on the following year of February 4th and the reader hears about what has been happening in Olivias life and those around her. I really enjoyed the characters of Fiona and Liam. Fiona is her best friend and is always encouraging Olivia throughout this 10 year period. Liam was a friend/boyfriend who was also memorable. My favorite is his part in the coffee shop with, "isn't it ironic" I also loved all of the mentions of pop culture in the book. You will also look forward to finding out what will happen on February 4, 2013. Thanks so much to netgal...
