The Truth about the Devlins by Lisa Scottoline

Wow, what a story!  I love that the story was only told through the viewpoint of TJ.  The author weaves an interesting mystery as the reader tries to unravel the truth about this dysfunctional family.  I found the added story of the prison trials to be so captivating.   Thanks so much to netgalley and the publisher for the arc.  The opinions are my own.

Just Once by Karen Kingsbury

I felt like I was sitting with my grandparents and hearing their story. It was told in such a beautiful way as it goes back and forth between the time periods.  There were so many characters that were so endearing including Hank, Sam, Irvel and Ruth.  The connection between the family members was so sweet as well. Thanks so much to netgalley and the publisher for the arc.  The opinions are my own.

The Songbird of Hope Hill by Kim Vogel Sawyer

Such a powerful and redemptive story.  I enjoyed how the author put faces to the women who are involved in prostitution.  These women are also created in the image of God and are so precious to Him. So many of the characters were so enjoyable for many different reasons.  I loved how Ophelia had this quiet strength and wisdom.  Birdie was so tough despite the rough road that she had been on. I was rooting for Ellie throughout the book! I enjoyed how the reader can guess what "secrets" are hidden throughout the story but many aren't revealed until the end. Thanks so much to netgalley and the publisher for the arc.  The opinions are my own

Double Take by Lynette Eason

This book kept me on the edge of my seat!  I wanted to keep screaming at Lainie to be careful!  I loved the way both Lainie and James had different traumas in their past but kept pushing forward.  James was a sweet character and enjoyed how he tried to help Lainie as much as possible.   Thanks so much to netgalley and the publisher for the arc.  The opinions are my own.

The Divine Proverb of Streusel by Sara Brunsvold

This book came to me at just the right time as our family is in the midst of repeated losses.  I read this book within 24 hours but it may be one of the few books that I reread as I would love to glean more of the wisdom from it.    I loved this book because I felt like Grandma Ann could have been my grandma imparting so much Biblical wisdom to me.  Uncle Wes was a phenomenal character as well.  He knew when to speak to those around him and when to keep quiet.  Aunt Emma was another person that I would love to have in my corner.  Her ability to find the humor in situations and her zest for life was insatiable.  Last but not least were Joyce and Nikki.  Despite the hard times that both characters had they kept doing the next thing . I loved how the author included soamy recipes and had Nikki fumbling her way through them as well.  I look forward to using the wisdom before the recipe as I prepare these recipes and future recipes. Thanks so much to netgalley and the publisher for the arc

Miracles at Promise Lodge by Charlotte Hubbard

I haven't read anything by this author before so I'm not sure if that put me at a disadvantage. There were so many characters for me to get acquainted with that it made it difficult to follow along for the majority of the book.  I didn't really connect with any of the characters in the book either and found some of the subjects that I didn't enjoy. Thanks so much to netgalley and the publisher for the arc.  The opinions are my own.

The Juliet Code by Pepper Basham

The sizzle between Frederick and Grace is the best part about this book.  They are so sweet to each other and find such great ways to bring romance to their relationship.   The mystery aspect to the book was exciting.  The reader is continually left guessing as to who is involved.   Thanks so much to netgalley and the publisher for the arc.  The opinions are my own.

Ruth's Ginger Snap Surprise by Anne Balckburne

This was an easy read and a sweet story.  The characters were enjoyable to read about and it was nice to read about the main characters persevering despite the losses in their lives.  I particularly enjoyed little Abigail.  Such a fun little girl and I could only imagine the adventures she had with Alaska and Ginger Snap. Thanks so much to netgalley and the publisher for the arc.  The opinions are my own.  I will post on netgalley and the blog within 30 days of publication date
