Where the Blue Sky Begins by Katie Powner

I have read every book by this author!  My review of her last book can be found here:   https://kroosreadsandreviews.blogspot.com/2021/10/a-flicker-of-light-by-katie-powner.html I continued to read this one even when my eyes were crossed and I was in desperate need of sleep! Eric is sent for the summer to a small town in Montana in order to climb up the corporate ladder in his Uncle Hank's bank.  Little does he know that there are many lessons that he will learn while there. Eunice is a middle aged woman who knows her days are limited and has a bucket list of reconciliation with friends and family.  She enlists Eric to drive her to seek forgiveness.  These two unlikely friends show each other that it's not the outside that counts but instead what's on the inside. This book has left a mark on me and I will be thinking about this story for quite some time! Thanks so much to netgalley and the publisher for the arc.  The opinions are my own.

Season of My Enemy by Naomi Musch

The O'Brien family are living in Wisconsin in the midst of World War II.  Their brothers are off fighting and they do not have enough workers to run the farm.  They hire German PW's to help work the farm. So many emotions come in to play on how to treat these workers.  This is a compelling book on how to treat your enemy!  My favorite character was Dale. Thanks so much to netgalley and the publisher for the arc.  The opinions are my own!

Still My Forever by Kim Vogel Sawyer

Gil. returns to his hometown after being in New York City for 4 years while he attempted to pursue his musical career.  Ava rejected Gil's marriage proposal and request to move to New York City and has remained at home with her parents. Ava and Gil are quickly reunited upon his return but Ava's heart is still hurting after his perceived rejection of her four years earlier.  Gil begins to help with the men's band and the young boy's band and befriends the extremely adorable Timmy.  Gil becomes an asset to the community and is such a loveable character.  Will he be able to hear the music in the small town or is the big city where he belongs? Thanks so much to netgalley and the publisher for the arc.  The opinions are my own.

A Promise Engraved by Liz Tolsma

This is a dual timeline story! I love the way Brandon and John protected the people that were around them. Kayleigh and Josie were such strong women even though life had thrown so much at them.  Their determination and grit despite their circumstances was amazing. It was also fascinating to learn more about the Alamo.  I also enjoyed the mystery behind the cat's eye ring. Thanks so much to netgalley and the publisher for the arc.  The opinions are my own.

In Honor's Defense by Karen Witemeyer

Hanger's Horsemen #3 This is a new to me author and definitely won't be the last book that I read by her!! Damaris comes to Texas to take care of her orphaned nephew, Nate, but he is not happy about his aunt coming.  There are definitely problems on the ranch as it appears that someone desperately wants the land and Nate is not willing to give it up.  Luke is hired by a neighbor to find out why his cows are missing and he thinks young Nate could be involved. This was a great story and kept me turning the pages to find out how the mystery is solved! Thanks so much to netgalley and the publisher for the arc.  The opinions are my own.

Threads of Hope by Leslie Gould

I enjoyed how the characters in this novel go to the quilt shop and Jane shares the story of Amos and Katie from 1918.  It was such a unique way to tell the story and something that I had never seen before. In the present day, Tally is an Amish girl who meets her English neighbor, Danielle.  Danielle is a struggling widow and war hero.  Even amidst Danielle's struggles, she comes alongside of Tally and her family when her mom is sick.  Danielle's brother, Kenan is a wonderful person as he seeks to care for his sister and niece. There are lots of topics that are covered in this book:  war, Spanish flu and prescription drug abuse. Thanks so much to netgalley and the publisher for the arc.  The opinions are my own.

Sea Glass Cottage by Irene Hannon

This is book #8 in the Hope Harbor Series It was so good to be back in Hope Harbor again!  It's like a wonderful vacation spot that you enjoy coming back to year after year! There are so many characters in this book that I just adored!  Charley is the taco stand owner and dispenser of wisdom.  He also has the ability to always show up just where he is needed.  Noah is an 11 year old boy in the foster care system who has a knack for art.  I love how the community rallies around him.   The story is a great testament of how you come upon challenges in life and how do you respond to them?  Do you give up, keep going; forgive and forget? Thanks so much to netgalley and the publisher for the arc.  The opinions are my own.

To Tame a Cowboy by Jody Hedlund

This is the 3rd book in the Colorado Cowboys series!   I was so excited to read this book and hear more about the story of Brody.  Brody had been through so much with the war and the abuse that he suffered under the hand of his step-father.   Savannah is a vet who is confronting being a working woman in a male dominated society.  She was an amazing person who saw the good in everyone, including Brody! I also really enjoyed the relationship between Brody and niece and his brother, Flynn.  Brody's sister, Ivy, is always a riot and has no filter! Thanks so much to netgalley and the publisher for the arc.  The opinions are my own!

What Remains True by Nancy Naigle

This is my first time reading anything by this author and definitely will not be my last!! Merry Anna moves in to the small town of Antler Creek after a difficult divorce.  Adam is a local store owner and does very well in the local rodeo.  Their lives begin to intermingle and then a wrench is thrown into the story as Adam finds out he is the dad of a 5 year old girl named Zan.  This really added a lot of depth to the story and endeared the characters with the reader.  The rodeo theme was so much fun to explore as a reader!  I was also salivating over the strawberry pie that Adam made for Merry Anna.  I was really hoping to find the recipe at the back of the book! Thanks so much to netgalley and the publisher for the arc.  The opinions are my own.

Sold on Love by Kathleen Fuller

It was so good to be back in Maple Falls again!  This is the 3rd book in the series and was great to find out more about Harper and her real estate business.  Her sales are struggling and she doesn't know what to do.  Her car is constantly on the fritz and mechanic, Rusty, is already up for the challenge of the car and Harper!  I really enjoyed the characters of Rusty and Sr.. I received a complimentary copy of this book. Opinions expressed in this review are completely my own.

The Baxters by Karen Kingsbury

I love when I get a chance to review a book by Karen Kingsbury.  I also love that my 8 year old daughter is joining in on the fun of learning about the Baxters through the children's books. Trouble is brewing for the Baxters on Kari's wedding day.  She is unsure on whether she is marrying the right person. John and Elizabeth, her parents are concerned about all of the kids. The whole book focuses on the wedding day and includes the different characters but especially Ashley, Kari, Landon and Ryan.  The story is told in the present day and in the memories of the characters. I love how John and Elizabeth are concerned about their adult children but know when to offer advice and when to pray for them! Thanks so much to netgalley and the publisher for the arc.  The opinions are my own.

All That It Takes by Nicole Deese

Val moves from Alaska with her 10 year old son, Tucker to work with her boss, Molly. Miles, Molly's twin brother, is a pastor who has been grounded from his passion of overseas mission projects. Val ends up moving in to Miles' second floor apartment and from there the fun begins.   There were so many fun  characters in this book: -it was so good to "see" Silas and Molly again -Lady Gwen was Val's mentor and she was so much fun, somebody you would want to hang out with -Carlee is the young lady who is mentored by Val and her spirit was amazing -Rev was Miles' mentor and each time he met with him, he asked him, "What is not wrong in your life" and he would have to answer for 5 minutes. Thanks so much to netgalley and the publisher for the arc.  The opinions are my own.
