Children of the Shadows by Erica Vetsch

I did not read the first two books in the series and this might have been a big disadvantage for me.  I felt like there were so many people and I couldn't keep all of the characters straight.  It seemed like so much of the beginning of the story had to do with Daniels inheritance as opposed to the missing children which was disappointing to me. I did enjoy the story more once we were in the midst of the disappearances and the other nefarious activities.  The story became much more interesting to me then.  I really enjoyed the characters of uncle Bertie, Marcus, Charlotte and Juliette. Thanks so much to netgalley and the publisher for the arc.  The opinions are my own.

Garden of the Midnights by Hannah Linder

I enjoyed the mystery and suspense in the story and was definitely surprised at the outcome.  At one point in the story, I was hoping that the story would start to move a little faster.  William had been through a lot but I enjoyed that he still found joy and sought to make good choices.  Isabella, despite being wealthy, also tried to make wise choices. Thanks so much to netgalley and Barbour Publishing for the arc.  The opinions are my own.

The Day After the Party by Nicole Trope

So suspenseful!  Just never knew what was going to happen in this story.  I was looking for something different and this fit the bill.  Thankfully it wasn't a realistic story but definitely filled with mystery and left me turning the pages. Thanks so much to netgalley and the publisher for the arc.  The opinions are my own.

How to Plot a Playback by Melissa Ferguson

This was a fun easy read.  I enjoyed the different hiccups and twists that came throughout the story. My favorite character was Lavender.   She was such an easy person to cheer on and had such a joy that wasn't built on her success but just the world around her.  I loved the community that surrounded Finn as he went through the story. Thanks so much to netgalley and the publisher for the arc. The opinions are my own.

No Romancing the Passengers by Lee Wimmer

I enjoyed the mystery and suspense in this book.  I also enjoyed the idea behind the cruise and how the passengers all enjoyed each other.   The stuff about dream walking was different for me and gave me something to think about.  There is another book after this one so everything is not tied up neatly at the end.  I enjoyed the characters Miguel, Mike and Willie. Thanks so much to netgalley and the publisher for the arc.  The opinions are my own.

The Funeral Ladies of Ellerie County by Claire Swinarski

I'm conflicted on this book.  I really enjoyed the story of the funeral ladies and especially liked how they rally together to help each other.   The part that was difficult was the extensive talk of the PTSD.  My favorite character of course was Esther.  I would love to hang out with her and glean all of her recipes and cooking knowledge.   Thanks so much to netgalley and the publisher for the arc.  The opinions are my own.

Crime Scene Conspiracy by Jessica R. Patch

I enjoyed the characters in the story, especially Stone, Emily and Marisol.  I would have liked a little bit more time to get to know the characters in between the crimes.  The mystery and suspense definitely had me interested and surprised up until the end. Thanks so much to netgalley and the publisher for the arc.  Thx opinions are my own.

The 6 pm Frazzled Mums Club by Nina Manning

I need a good light hearted book and this definitely hit the mark.  I really enjoyed the friendship that happened between the three main women. It was so nice to think about how having that support during the rough times means so much.  There were definitely some surprises in here which was nice too. Thanks so much to netgalley and the publisher for the arc. The opinions are my own.

Please Take My Baby by Emma Robinson

This was definitely an emotionally charged drama.  It gave the reader different points of view and how things aren't always as they seem.  Harriet was probably my favorite character as she rolled with the punches of her dysfunctional family.   Thanks so much to netgalley and the publisher for the arc.  The opinions are my own.

The American Queen by Vanessa Miller

This story isn't an easy fiction read.  It comes from a place when horrible atrocities took place to people.  It's a book that needs to be read though as the reader can learn about the strength of the people who lived in Happy Land.  William and Louella led their people through extremely trying times and sought the Lord first throughout it all.  Mama Sue was another great character with her steady presence in the background to the leading characters.  To learn that William and Louella were "real people" made the story even more endearing.  Thanks so much to netgalley and the publisher for the arc.  The opinions are my own.

Her Secret Hope by Shelley Shepard Gray

I'm not sure why but I didn't connect with this story.  I wasn't invested in the characters and the story seemed to move slow for me.  I usually really enjoy this author but for some reason this one wasn't for me. Thanks so much to netgalley and the publisher for the arc.  The opinions are my own.
