The Impossible Kid by Lucille Williams

I know that the title of this book was about the impossible kid and that was highlighted a little bit throughout the book but I think that most of the book talks about marriage and parenting from a Christian perspective.   I enjoyed how the author honestly told about the struggles that she experienced as a mom and some of the less flattering things that she did. I also enjoyed how the author concluded each chapter with a section written by her daughter, Monica, who was "the impossible kid".   Again, I learned a lot about marriage and parenting from this book and for that, I am grateful! I received a complimentary copy of this book from Barbour Publishing and was under no obligation to post a review.

Christmas in Peachtree Bluff by Kristy Woodson Harvey

4 stars I did not read the previous 3 books in the series so it took me a little  bit to figure out who all of the characters were and how they fit together, but once I did, I was hooked.  I enjoyed so much that this family came together during the holidays, even with all of their emotional baggage, and continued all of their traditions.  I also enjoyed how despite the trials, they still cared so much about each other. Thanks so much to netgalley and the publisher for the arc.  The opinions are my own.

Undercurrent of Secrets by Rachel Scott McDaniel

5 stars This is the first book that I have read by this author and WOW!!!!  This author is like an artist and she paints such an exciting picture of the story with her words.  The story was told today and 100 years earlier and was such a compelling story.  I particularly enjoyed the current story of Chase and Devyn.  I enjoyed how more of the secrets came to light as the story moved on.  I will definitely be looking in to more books by this author!! I received a complimentary copy of this book from Barbour Publishing and was under no obligation to post a review.

The Nature of Small Birds by Susie Finkbeiner

5 stars      This author is another must read for me when she has a book coming out.  In fact, I didn't even request it on netgalley because I wanted to buy it and have a copy for myself.  After my grandma read it, I finally got a chance to read it. This story is told from the perspective of the three of the characters from three different time periods.  It is not all about birds but definitely talks about them at times and the beauty of nature.  The main story revolves around little Minh who was part of the Baby Lift program from Viet Nam.  I had never heard of this before so this was fascinating for me.  International adoption has meant so much to me since I was able to go with my aunt to China when they adopted my cousin.  The book left me thinking about the emotions and the stories of each of the characters. I really enjoyed this book and can't wait to the author releases her next one!

Labyrinth of Lies by Irene Hannon

4 stars This book was a powerful book.  At times, I was a little confused about who the characters were and how they related to the story but in the end it all came together for me.  There is so much suspense in the story and a little bit of romance which is perfect for me.  Zeke and Cate go undercover separately in a private boarding school in order to uncover illegal activities that are happening at the school.  The amount of lies and twists and turns in the story kept me looking forward to the next page. Thanks so much to netgalley and the publisher for the arc.  The opinions are my own.

My Daughter's Mistake by Kate Hewitt

5 stars I will read anything by this author and usually I have to disregard all other responsibilities so that I can finish the book!  I enjoy that she takes social issues and shows both sides behind the story.  In this story, there is a car accident that involves a teenage girl and a six year old.  The story is told from the perspective of both moms who are struggling with the emotions behind the accident.  The author has hit it out of the park again with this book.  There is a little bit of swearing in the book. Thanks so much to netgalley and the publisher for the arc.  The opinions are my own.

The Healing of Natalie Curtis by Jane Kirkpatrick

4 stars I really enjoyed reading this book and learning more about this time period with the indigenous peoples.  I enjoyed how Natalie sought to learn more about each of the different tribes and try to record their heritage.  The relationship between Natalie and her brother was also so encouraging to me. Thanks so much to netgalley and the publisher for the arc.  The opinions are my own.

The Mistletoe Countess by Pepper Basham

5 stars This book is awesome and hits all the notes of a wonderful book--mystery, romance, suspense, etc.  Gracelynn is such a fun character.  She is innocent, sweet and full of knowledge of literary works!  Frederick is an earl and is trying to find his way in the world!  This is one that will get your heart racing for the mystery and the romance!!!!! Thanks so much to netgalley and the publisher for the arc.  The opinions are my own.

The Secret Keepers of Old Depot Grocery by Amanda Cox

5 stars This book is flipping fantastic!  It is told as a time slip which I always have a little bit of trouble getting in to but once I did, I was madly in love with the characters and the hope behind the story.  I particularly enjoyed the characters of Sarah, Glory Ann and Clay.  This was a wonderful story of faith, family and healing. Thanks so much to netgalley and the publisher for the arc.  The opinions are my own.

Trace of Doubt by Diann Mills

4 stars This was a tantalizing suspense novel that kept me turning the pages as fast as I could.  I have never read anything by this author before and will definitely keep her on my reading radar.  There were definitely characters in this book that I really enjoyed and there were some in here that I despised!  If you enjoy reading suspense novels, check it out! Thanks to netgalley and the publisher for the arc.  The opinions are my own.

Three Sisters by Heather Morris

5 stars This was such an amazingly powerful story about three Jewish sisters in the time of Hitler's reign of terror.  The bond and the strength that the sisters have to endure such horrendous abuse is amazing to me.  I appreciate how the author gives a taste of the abuse that was experienced by the Jewish people but doesn't overwhelm the reader with it.  This is a must read for everyone to understand a time in our history that was so awful but yet people survived and persevered despite the tragedies that they experienced.  I particularly enjoyed everything in the author's note as well--also a must read! Thanks so much to netgalley and the publisher for the arc.  The opinions are my own.
