The Bodyguard by Katherine Center

I have been a fan of this author for quite some time so I was thrilled to read this book.  The author has such a great way of being so descriptive in her writing.   I could picture myself in the scenes and it makes the story even more enthralling for the reader. Hannah is the bodyguard and she has overcome so much in her life.  I really appreciated her self-deprecation yet also her ability to succeed in a world that was challenging for her.  Jack Stapleton is the famous actor that she has been hired to protect.  Definitely characters that the reader will fall in love with. Thanks so much to netgalley and the publisher for the arc.  The opinions are my own.

Malicious Intent by Lynn Blackburn (Defend and Protect #2)

This book made me want to forego all of my adult responsibilities and tear through the pages of this book!  I loved the characters of Ivy and Gil.  Ivy has so much strength amidst so much difficulty in her personal world.  I also really enjoy the way the author portrays the strong relationship of the core group of characters!  I can't wait until book three comes out! Thanks so much to netgalley and the publisher for the arc.  The opinions are my own.   Unknown Threat book 1 review can be found here:    https://kroosreadsandreviews.blogspot.com/2021/03/unknown-threat-by-lynn-h-blackburn.html

Warmth of Sunshine by Kelly Irvin (Amish Blessings #2)

Abigail is a young lady who is thrown for a loop when she meets an English woman at her home and she reveals a secret to her.   I really enjoyed seeing the English world through the eyes of an Amish person! It took me a little while to get in to the story but I am so glad that I continued reading. I received a complimentary copy of this book. Opinions expressed in this review are completely my own. Under the Moonlit Sea by Julianne MacLean

The year is 1990 and Olivia and Dean are happily married.  They want to start planning their family and are so excited for it.  That night Dean flies a private jet and disappears in to the Bermuda Triangle In 1986, Melanie is a researcher and studying why planes goes missing in the Bermuda Triangle.  She goes to a counselor, Dr. Robinson at the advice of her school in the midst of her thesis paper preparation. From here, there are so many twists and turns, this book kept me on the edge of my seat to figure out how it was all connected! Thanks so much to netgalley and the publisher for the arc.  The opinions are my own.

Building a Future by Amy Clipston

Gosh, I didn't realize that this book contained the characters from the book, Foundation of Love!  I enjoyed reading about how Duane and his family were doing.   This book takes a closer look at the relationships between the two older boys, Tyler and Korey.  It frustrated me a little bit on how immature Korey was throughout the book.  His family and friends gave him so much grace but his character was pretty unlikable.   I enjoyed the character Michelle and how hard she cared about those she interacted with.  It was pretty cool how her hobby brought her so much joy! Thanks so much to netgalley and the publisher for the arc.  The opinions are my own.

The Wedding Veil by Kristy Woodson Harvey

This was such an interesting book and I really enjoyed watching how the veil brought two families together.   It was meant to bring good luck but for some it put so much pressure on them. I really loved learning more about Asheville, North Carolina and the Biltmore house.  It was fascinating to read about the VanderBilt family as well. I enjoyed watching how the family dynamics played out throughout the book as well.  It was wonderful to see the special relationship especially between the grandma and the granddaughter.  I particularly enjoyed the supporting characters of Babs, Miles and Conner!   Thanks so much to netgalley and the publisher for the arc.  The opinions are my own.

A Place to call Home by Lizzie Page

I did not read the first book in this series so it took me a little bit to figure out who the characters were and how they were involved in the story. Clara is a single woman who runs the local home for orphan children.  I loved her tenacious spirit and her determination to fight for what was in the best interests of the kids.  I also enjoyed how each of the children in the home were able to participate in hobbies that were of interest to them.  One of my favorite characters was Marilyn who was the mom of Clara's fiance who had passed away. Thank so much to netgalley and the publisher for the arc.  The opinions are my own.

Shaped by the Waves by Christina Suzann Nelson

This is an author that writes books that are about current issues and draw the reader right in to the story.  I do not usually buy a lot of books but I had my husband pre-order this book for me back in August for my birthday. This story was a little bit slow for me and hard for me to figure out how the characters related to each other.  Cassie is the main character in the story and she comes home with her 4 year old daughter, Lark, to help take care of her Aunt Shasta.  Cassie receives an anonymous manuscript in the mail and is unsure how it applies to her life.  There is also another character, Nora, that is talked about frequently in the story.  This character was a little bit of an enigma to me.    I enjoyed how Cassie sought to take good care of her Aunt Shasta and really enjoyed how the community rallied around Cassie and Lark to help them out through this difficult time.   Thanks so much to the publisher for the ARC.  The opinions are my own.

A Edge of Dusk by Colleen Coble

Colleen Coble is an author that I run to when I hear that she is releasing a suspense novel and this one definitely did not disappoint.  I love how throughout the books she disperses little clues that keep me turning the pages to find out what will happen. Annie is the local sheriff and has an 8 year old daughter, Kylie.  She became a sheriff because when she was a young girl she was a witness to her sister's kidnapping and disappearance.  The other notable character was Jon who was an ex-boyfriend of Annie who comes back to town to help sell the family's cottage.   Thanks so much to netgalley and the publisher for the arc.  The opinions are my own.

Edgewater Road by Shelley Shepard Gray

I was so excited when I was approached to review this book.  The author writes incredible stories and takes the reader on an experience with each book! The story revolves around Jennifer who moves in to her grandmother's house on Edgewater Road after her passing.  She is quickly surrounded by Lincoln and his men.  Lincoln is a neighbor who helps to rehabilitate people who have been released from prison.  I really enjoyed how the men worked to protect Jennifer.   The story has lots of secrets and it keeps the reader turning the pages to find out what will happen in the story. Thanks so much to the publisher and netgalley for the arc.  The opinions are my own.

Sugarcreek Surprise by Wanda Brunstetter

I have pretty much read all of the books by this author.  This book was a little bit slow to develop for me.   I really enjoyed seeing the characters of Orley and Lois that were in the previous book.  The character Lisa was a little bit of a downer for me.  She had her heart shut down to everyone because of the circumstances in her life and it made me find her difficult to enjoy. Thanks so much to netgalley and the publisher for the arc.  The opinions are my own.

Stolen from Her Mother by Rachel Wesson

This story revolves around two different couples in different countries: Carol and Josh are married and he is involved in the military.  They are unable to have children.  Kate is a single lady in Ireland who goes to live with her uncle and cousin and meets a military man named Tony.  Obviously, there is a child at the heart of this story.   It takes a while for the story to develop to the point where the child is "stolen" from the mother.  The time period in the 1940's was extremely disappointing to see how the church treated unwed mothers.  It was almost disturbing to read the things that happened to these poor women and their children. I really enjoyed the characters Carol, Josh, Kate, Alan and the heart that they have for each other. Thanks so much to netgalley and publisher for the arc.  The opinions are my own.

Foster the Family by Jamie C. Finn

I can't say enough good things about this book and how it impacted me and my thinking!  We were thrust in to the world of fostering and it can be a lonely and isolating journey.  This book encouraged me so much and gave me so much more to think about!  I am going to include some of my favorite quotes below!  This book should be read by foster families and anyone that is supporting a foster family! "Worrying about getting too attached takes away from our ability to love and serve our foster children the very best we can" (Location 1025 in Kindle)   This is another important idea for me to remember when I am taking care of my foster kids--"Therefore, the ways you parent kids from hard places may look very different from the methods of the friends and family you're parenting alongside"  (Location 1489 in Kindle) The foster journey is a very difficult one and this quote speaks to me:  "I so want to do this foster thing well, and then every day my weakness

Relative Justice by Robert Whitlow

It took me a while to figure out what was happening in the story, maybe because I hadn't read the first one.  But, once I got into it, I was hooked!!   I also enjoyed the story of the "prodigal son", Robbie coming back to town.   I enjoyed the relationship too between David and Nan I received a complimentary copy of this book. O pinions expressed in this review are completely my own.
