Raging Waters by Dana Mentink

Kroosreadsandreviews: I felt like I was white water rafting reading this book!   The amount of time spent in the water by these characters was terrifying!! Gideon is the outdoors guy who you want on your side.  His knowledge and preparedness came in handy in this book! Zee is out for vengeance and won't stop until the kingpin is taken down.  She is as tough as nails and at some point, you are left begging her to stop! The story is fast paced and will leave you guessing on who is friend or foe. Thanks to netgalley and the publisher for the arc.  The opinions are my own. Book Blurb: When Mackenzie Bardine's brother Aaron was murdered in a drug deal gone wrong, she started a true crime podcast dedicated to exposing "Bullseye," the drug kingpin responsible. But her protective heart has never let go of the blame she places on herself and Aaron's best friend, Gideon Landry. On the run to the wilds of Washington to chase a recent lead, she meets none other than ...

The Beginner's Quilt by Wanda Brunstetter

Kroosreadsandreviews: I loved seeing the pieces of this book come together as the author skillfully stitches the story together.   I loved how the story spans across two states and includes lots of opportunities for forgiveness. Emma was a sweet girl but I became a little frustrated with her lack of self confidence.  Ivan was a great guy but lived under his dad's thumb for his vocation.   The reader will find some unexpected snags throughout the story which adds to the drama.   Thanks to Barbour Publishing for the arc.  The opinions are my own. Book Blurb: Despite the best efforts of Emma Bontrager’s mother, Emma hasn’t learned much of anything that will prepare her to be an Amish wife. Therefore, she’s sent to Arthur, Illinois, to be taught by her paternal grandmother. Though she would rather be fishing, hiking, or playing baseball, Emma finally listens to her grandmother and even finds she enjoys working on a Tree of Life quilt. Having me...

South of Somewhere by T.I. Lowe

Kroosreadsandreviews: South of Somewhere chronicles Junie's life as she leaves rehab. The story will pull you in as the author weaves the emotional highs and lows.   I love that Junie has a group that surrounds her and supports her. My favorites were Gilbert and Henry. I saw Gilbert as a kindly grandpa but also one that could give a kick in the pants if you got out of line. Henry was just super sweet and quiet and compassionate.   While the topic could be overwhelming, the author is able to present it in such a way that you can understand a little more about addiction and recovery.   A highlight was visiting the town of Somewhere that was from a previous book! The characters and the story will stay with me for quite some time.   Thanks to netgalley and the publisher for the arc. The opinions are my own. Book Blurb: A young mother filled with regret returns to Sullivan’s Island to rebuild her life and finds compassion in the most unexpected ...
