Shadows at Dusk by Elizabeth Goddard

 Isaiah 42:1-2, 4 are some of my favorite verses and I love that they are interspersed throughout this story.  I loved how Trevor cares so much about his sister and longs for justice to be served.  Carrie had been through so much but continues to think about others.  The suspense was strong in this book and I never knew if a character was good or bad.  It definitely kept the story very interesting.

The All American by Susie Finkbeiner

 From the first line, this book captured my interest as I followed along with the lives of Bertha and Flossie.  I found their dad to be such an endearing character as well as their brother Chip who loves his family so much.  I particularly enjoyed that each section started with an excerpt from their dad's book.  This is an author that I absolutely enjoy so much and this book did not disappoint.
