What I Left For You by Liz Tolsma

 The author does a fantastic job of intertwining the past and the present to make sure that the reader isn't overwhelmed by the story.  I love that McKenna in the present day has such a desire to learn more about her genealogy.  Her friend Taylor is such a gift to her.  In the past we find Helena who is a heroine like no other as she combats the heinous acts committed during WWII.   Jeezy, Pawel and Teena were also wonderful characters.


One of my favorite quotes was, "no matter what, God!". I love it and it reminded the characters in the book that no matter what God is with us.

 Wow!   This author does such an amazing job telling a story that the reader thinks they are living with Alex and her family.  I was rooting for so many of the characters.  This book will remain in my thoughts for quite some time. A Picture of Hope by Liz Tolsma

5 stars If you enjoy World War II historical fiction, this is the book for you.  I have read many WWII novels but this was a different spin on it with the story revolving around a little girl named Claire who had Down Syndrome.   I think I may need to re-read the ending because I was trying to read the book as fast as I could because I wanted so desperately to know how the story would end!  The character of Sister Maria-Theresa was one that I loved.  She had such strength and faith amidst the adversity that they were facing.  Maria-Theresa always sought the Lord during the crisis and had such wisdom for those around her.   I received a complimentary copy of this book from Barbour Publishing and was under no obligation to post a review.
