Everything's Coming Up Rosie by Courtney Walsh

Kroosreadsandreviews thoughts:   This book was so much fun!   There were so many things to love about it!   The story is set in Door County in a senior citizens community and it is such an idyllic setting.  It was the place I would want to live when I am older!   The cast of characters was pretty incredible too.  I wanted to be Rosie despite her struggles that she went through.  She has three best friends who are always there for her no matter where she lives.  Booker is hunky, sarcastic and supportive.  Arthur is grumpy but you can tell that he has a sensitive side.  And Rosie is definitely the star of the show.    She's funny, quirky and such a love for the theatre.  I love the banter that she has with people especially the sulky teenager, Dylan. Thanks to netgalley and the publisher for the arc.  The opinions are my own. What's it about?    Rosie Waterman has one dream: to becom...

Welcome to the Honey B&B by Melody Carlson

Kroosreadsandreviews thoughts:   I enjoyed that the story was told from the point of view of the two female characters, Honey (mom) and Jewel (daughter).   Jewel returns to get childhood home with her teenage daughter to help care for her dad, CT, who has dementia.  The author's personal experience for caring for a loved one with dementia, shines through in this story and makes the experiences much more realistic.  The story really centers on CT and how the family tries to support him best.   Cooper, the teenage daughter, was probably my favorite character.  Once they made the move to Oregon, she seemed to be the one who adapted the best.  Cooper also worked so well with her grandpa and seemed to have a calming presence for him.   I would have liked to see more of the bed and breakfast and how that worked out for the family.   Thanks to netgalley and Revell for the arc.  The opinions are my own. What's it ...

Murder in the Appalachians by Susan Furlong

Kroosreadsandreviews thoughts:  This book takes the reader in a suspenseful ride where they are unsure who to trust and what is going to happen next.   It's interesting that both Logan and Emma are dealing with the disappearance or murder of their siblings.  Logan is also such a noble guy as he continues to help Emma even though he hardly knows her.    The excitement and suspense abound in this book.  I can't say anymore without ruining the surprises, but check this book out! Thanks to netgalley and the publisher for the arc.  The opinions are my own. What's it about? On the run in the mountains… with a killer on their trail. After unearthing secrets from her late brother’s police notebook, journalist Emma Hayes discovers his death was no accident—he was murdered. Only someone doesn’t want Emma to find out the connection to the cold case her brother was investigating…and they’ll kill to keep it that way. Now Emma must rely on local ER docto...

Where I Found You by Betsy St. Amant

Kroosreadsandreviews: I devoured this book and not just for the beignets!    The feud between the two families drew me into the story and left me cheering for reconciliation.    Delia and Gilbert were such great characters.  I enjoyed that they both had a sense of humor but also had wisdom from the Scriptures to impart to the "younger generation".   Noah and Elisa were also wonderful characters.  Noah at first was so grumpy but you could tell that he had a softer side.  Elisa used flirting to protect herself but cared deeply for those around her.   There were so many scripture references throughout the book, which I enjoyed! Thanks so much to the publisher for the arc.  The opinions are my own. What's it about? Noah Hebert recently inherited the Blue Pirogue Inn—along with all its problems. He needs money to keep his beloved childhood home from being shut down by his family’s longtime nemesis, Isaac Bergeron. So when Noah’s law...

Shattered Sanctuary by Nancy Mehl

Kroosreadsandreviews: This book drew me in so quickly and I finished it in less than 24 hours! If you have read books by this author, you may remember Kaely and her unusual way to profile suspects.  Kaely befriends Erin, who is struggling with some PTSD.  I love how Kaely supports Erin but doesn't push Christianity onto her.  The week long vacation in the cabin is such a sweet aspect to the story! Chester is such a great character and brings so much support to Erin! The psychological aspect in this story is strong and the reader is left trying to figure out who is involved.   Thanks to justreads and the publisher for the arc.  The opinions are my own. What's it about? Grappling with the aftermath of a tragic incident that altered her life, ex-police officer and bestselling mystery author Erin Delaney finds solace in the tranquility of a cabin nestled deep in the Smoky Mountains. But her restful stay is shattered when cries pierce the night, hinting a...

An Overdue Match by Sarah Monzon

Kroosreadsandreviews: I love that the author gave a face and story on the brave people who have alopecia.   The strength and determination is such an inspiration to me.   The story set in the library is so much fun.  The lengths that Evangeline went to procure romantic matches was a little unusual but was a quirky aspect to the story.   Tai was swoon worthy as he attempted to break through all of Evangeline's walls that she had put up.    The love and support of the family and friends expressed in the story brought years to my eyes.   Thanks to netgalley and the publisher for the arc.  The opinions are my own. What's it about? If the covers of every romance book ever published didn't convince librarian Evangeline Kelly that she isn't heroine material, her fiancĂ© calling off their wedding when she lost her hair to alopecia did. But what's a girl head over heels for love to do when her feelings are unrequited? Matchm...

The Peacemaker by Wanda Brunstetter

Kroosreadsandreviews: Ada is such a sweet character and I enjoyed how she worked to keep the peace in the relationships that she had.   Ephraim continues to struggle with his past but seems to be moving forward.  I appreciated how much he cared for his grandma. My favorite character was Josiah.  He seemed like such a great guy who knew how to care for those around him.   The questions about Rosa and her disappearance continues in this book.   Thanks to netgalley and Barbour Publishing for the arc. The opinions are my own. What's it about? In book two of A Mifflin County Mystery series, Rosa Petersheim’s disappearance continues to cause suspicion and pain to swirl in the Big Valley.   Ada’s best friend, Rosa, disappeared a year ago and still has not been found. In their grief and confusion, Ada and Rosa’s boyfriend, Ephraim, have grown very close. But some in the community feel Ephraim is responsible for Rosa’s disappearance. Now Rosa’s...

When the Sky Burned by Liz Tolsma

Kroosreadsandreviews:   This series by Barbour Publishing has been so informative and interesting. I really enjoy books by this author and she does a great job telling stories. I particularly enjoyed how the story is told from the point of view of a variety of characters. I only heard of the Chicago fire and not the fire in Wisconsin. Interestingly enough they both happened on the same day but the loss of life in Wisconsin was so much worse. There were some parts that were predictable in the story but I still enjoyed reading and was interested in hearing the why's behind the different plotlines. Thanks to netgalley and Barbour Publishing for the arc. The opinions are my own. What's it about? Promising painter Mariah Randolph longs to have her canvases displayed in the world’s best museums, and Hollis Stanford, the heir of a railroad tycoon, is her ticket to success. The railroad’s bookkeeper, Jay Franklin, discovers discrepancies and is convinced that Hollis is stealing from th...
