Out of Time by Irene Hannon

The main characters in the story were so interesting and each of them had such great characteristics about them.  I loved that Cara had such a strength in her despite her years in foster care.  The use of cochlear implants was also so intriguing as my nieces also use these.  Brad had such a quiet determination to him.  He fought for justice in the community that he worked but was able to balance it with compassion.  My favorite character was Natalie.  She was quick to give a second chance to those around her. Natalie also continued to remain calm despite the chaos that was happening around her.  I did think at times that the book was a little slow moving.   Thanks to netgalley and the publisher for the arc.  The opinions are my own.

God Loves Kids by Jamie Finn

This book is a great short story to share with kids who are involved in the foster care system.  The most important theme that runs throughout the book is that the child is loved by God and those around them including the biological family.  It includes that there can be a lot of emotions as a foster child.  I can't wait to read it with our kids and purchase it to share with them.   The illustrations throughout the book were well thought out and had a diversity of individuals included.  Thanks to netgalley and the publisher for the arc.  The opinions are my own.

The Amish Ballerina by Richelle and Wanda Brunstetter

I was really looking forward to reading this book but unfortunately I did not enjoy it. I found the book to be slow moving and it didn't hold my interest. The characters were hard to like as well, especially Lorinna and Arie's mothers.  Edwin was my favorite character.  He showed compassion for those around them and supported their choices.   Thanks to netgalley and Barbour Publishing for the arc.  The opinions are my own.

Missing at Christmas by Deena Alexander

Lexi is caught in the cross hairs of her family's criminal enterprise.  She also has the added responsibility of her infant twin nieces.  Thankfully she meets Noah and his partners at Jameson who come alongside of her to fight against those trying to kill her.  The surprises keep coming in this story as you root for Lexi and the girls! Thanks to netgalley and the publisher for the arc.  The opinions are my own.

The Daughter of Shiloh by Terri J. Haynes

These historical fiction books can be so hard to read but it gives me an idea of the pain that people in the past experienced.  The characters in the book give me an idea on how to face the trials and valleys that I go through with faith, strength and resilience. Milton and Lealia are so career oriented and have such goals for the future and then tragedy strikes.  They both rise above their own injuries to help those around them.  Dr. Briggs was also a great character with his calm demeanor.   Thanks to netgalley and Barbour Publishing for the arc.  The opinions are my own.

Dangerous Montana Inheritance by Jenna Night

This book follows Rose who has received an inheritance from an unlikely source.  Everything goes down hill from there!  . Thankfully an old high school classmate, Henry, gets involved as Rose's protector. The trials and troubles continue throughout the book and the reader is left trying to guess who is the culprit.     Thanks to netgalley and the publisher for the arc.  The opinions are my own. v

Mistletoe and Mayhem by Janice Thompson

It was so much fun to be back in Texas with the Hadley Family.  Mason and Raelyn are getting ready for their upcoming wedding but they are experiencing all of the weather related issues.  I loved how the family and friends came together to celebrate with the couple.   Thanks to netgalley and Barbour Publishing for the arc.  The opinions are my own.

The Second Story Bookshop by Denise Hunter

I loved that the story was set in a bookshop with strong ties to grandmas. I loved how the author used the grandma's words to remind Shelby of different things.  Shelby and Gray were great characters and I loved that they had a second chance at romance.   The hard part of the story for me was the bullying that took place in the younger years that carried on into adulthood.   Thanks to netgalley and the publisher for the arc.  The opinions are my own

Trust God, Love People by Jenny Marrs

've always loved watching Dave and Jenny on HGTV which made me so eager to read this book. I could almost hear Jenny narrating this story with her down to earth stories. I was so excited to read more about how their faith interacts with their lives. The story was delightful and encouraged me on my own faith walk. As our family has lived in the in-between of foster care for almost 4 years, the waiting for the adoption of Sylvie really touched my heart. Thanks to netgalley and the publisher for the arc. Canyon of Deceit by Diann Mills

This book took the reader from the heights of the Guadalupe Mountains to the area around Houston in order to save a little girl.  It involves criminal activity, foreign affairs, and a whole lot more! Blane and Therese try to sort out all of the mess and figure out where little Alina is.  She is such a strong character and remains steadfast throughout the perils that she experiences.   I enjoyed the suspense throughout the book but got a little bogged down on the Russian aspect in the story.   Thanks to netgalley and the publisher for the arc.  The opinions are my own.

Wyoming Wilderness Survival by Jill Elizabeth Nelson

Image
The Fairburn family is evil and their reign of terror is going to be challenged by the Fab 4!!   Who is the Fab 4?   They include a toddler and a dog! Tracey and Callum have had their lives turned upside down and meet each other out in the wilderness.  That's where everything goes south and they continue to be pursued by man and animals.  Bo is the trusty dog who protects the pack and fights off the enemy.  Brody is the adorable toddler who is happy as long as he has something to eat.   These books are fast paced and hard to put down.   Thanks to netgalley and the publisher for the arc.  The opinions are my own.

Behind Enemy Bylines by Kathleen Fuller

Come behind the scenes of a small community newspaper and those who love it so much! The story is set in Clementine, Arkansas and includes a whole slew of characters and subplots.   Seb and Jade are the main characters who are on the opposite ends of saving the paper.  These two have also been in a relationship that ended badly.  It was fun to see their relationship change and develop throughout the book. Kalista and Tyler are young and have come from two different worlds but are connected by an early morning paper route.  Lydia and Logan have met in rehab but come alongside each other to offer compassion and encouragement. Again, there was a lot to unwrap in the story.  The love for the community and their paper was heartwarming.  The aspect of foster care and dysfunctional families always speaks to me as well  Thanks to netgalley and the publisher for the arc.  The opinions are my own.
