Ambushed in the Night by Rhonda Starnes

Kroosreadsandreviews: These suspense stories that involve children pull on my heartstrings! The level of suspense was perfect, and the interactions between the characters drew me in.  I loved how Maxwell stepped into a stranger's drama and stayed involved throughout.  Brenda was so strong throughout and her love for Rose was so evident.   Thanks to netgalley and the publisher for the arc.  The opinions are my own. Synopsis: When his scared neighbor appears on his doorstep seeking refuge from a gunman, former police officer Maxwell Prescott is determined to shield the single mother and her toddler daughter. With Brenda Granger’s witness-protection location compromised and her late husband’s ties to a drug-trafficking ring placing a target on her back, Maxwell is the only person she can trust. But with threats at every turn, Maxwell’s protection skills are put to the ultimate test, and outrunning danger could be beyond their reach. Can they evade lethal ass...

Plain Jane's Secret Admirer by Anne Blackburne

Kroosreadsandreviews: This is a sweet story that has characters and cats that the reader will fall in love with.  It was so much fun to read about characters that I have read about in previous books, especially Abram and Lydia.   This book focused on Sam and Jane.  I loved how Sam tried to win Jane's heart while battling some of the past hurts.  Jane is such a compassionate person and cares deeply for cats, especially Secret! Thanks to Barbour Publishing for the arc. The opinions are my own. Synopsis: Full of faith, hope, and romance, this series takes you into the Heart of Amish country.   Sweet, shy, and devoted Amish woman, Jane Bontrager secretly hates her childhood nickname of Plain Jane. She doesn’t know who started the ugly name back in her school days, but she can never forget how it has long made her feel.   Jane has a huge crush on Amish buggy maker Samuel Mast, but they are both so shy they are more likely to turn old and gray alone t...

Detecting Deadly Threats by Carol J. Post

Kroosreadsandreveiws: I read this as an audiobook and each narrator takes a little bit to get used to but she did a great job.  The pace of the narration was on point and her ability to use different inflections for different characters was appreciated. The story was a classic love inspired Suspense story.   The interaction between Zach and Lauren was great.  I especially enjoyed how she related to William through gaming and shared experiences.  Ranger was the star of the show as he protected those he loved. Thanks to netgalley and Harlequin for the arc.  The opinions are my own. Synopsis: With ruthless criminals closing in, this K-9 is on a mission to defend. Amateur photographer Lauren Hollander narrowly escapes a kidnapping attempt—moments before a disastrous earthquake rocks her small town, destroying her store. She’s saved from the rubble by Zachery Kimball and his search and rescue K-9, Ranger. Someone is determined to get to Lauren—but who, an...

Shielded by the Cowboy by Connie Queen

Kroosreadsandreviews: Gosh, these books capture me from the beginning and then the author adds a pregnant victim?!?   This was next level and I worried throughout the book for Holly and her baby.  It's such a good thing that she came in contact with Clive and his family.   I was left guessing throughout the book who was behind all of the criminal activity.   Thanks to netgalley and the publisher for the arc.  The opinions are my own. Synopsis: A witness in danger… and a protector standing guard. Pregnant widow Holly Myers just wants a fresh start for her and her unborn child, but when she witnesses a double murder, her quiet life is shattered. On the run, she finds refuge with former Deputy Sheriff Clive Cantrell, who is determined to keep her safe. But with killers on their trail who’ll stop at nothing to silence Holly, staying alive might just be impossible. Especially when clues link the murders to a drug trafficking operation hidden on ...

A Weekend on Allyson Island by Susannah B. Lewis

Kroosreadsandreviews: Four women embark on a Golden Girls-esque weekend, there is lots of drama, tears, laughter and emotions.   This book hit me as I'm close to this age and seeing all of the things that we as women face was encouraging.  So often we take our journeys separately, without the support of good friends, which is sad.   I loved how the girls were honest with each other even when it hurt.  They also were extremely compassionate and filled with grace.   Nell and Gemma were my favorite characters.  I could identify with a lot of Gemma's humor.  Nell was a sweet character, who loved the Lord and others! I was expecting a little bit more of humor from this author but it is a great story with a great message to it! Thanks to netgalley and the publisher for the arc.  The opinions are my own. Synopsis: They've come for a birthday celebration . . . but they'll leave celebrating themselves. Moira Allyson is going all out f...

The Lighthouse at the Cove by Amy Clipston

Kroosreadsandreviews: Coral Cove is such an idyllic town that the reader wants to escape to!  The addition of the festival truly made it a hidden gem.  The author did such a great job of describing the festival, I almost felt that I was there eating cotton candy and funnel cakes! On to the characters, Kaiah, Reid and Piper were such charming characters and so easy to love.  I loved how Reid put Piper first in his life but had such a strong supportive family around him.   I truly didn't want the story to end and felt like I was saying goodbye to dear friends. Thanks to netgalley and the publisher for the arc. The opinions are my own. Synopsis: Sometimes the road home isn't on a map. After a painful breakup and a stalled career, journalist Kaiah Ross sets out on a reporting road trip down the East Coast, hoping the miles will help her find her way again. But when car trouble strands her in the postcard-perfect town of Coral Cove, she's forced to stop runnin...
